VEHICLE PROFILE: GENESIS X SPEEDIUM COUPE
The era of electrification has begun, and Genesis takes it to the next level with the debut of the Genesis X Speedium Coupe in their cultural oasis showroom, Genesis House, located in the heart of Manhattan meatpacking district. The introduction of this concept car marks early progress in exploring the next wave of electric vehicle technology and cementing Genesis’ plans of transitioning into a luxury electric vehicle brand.
The Genesis X Speedium Coupe encapsulates Genesis’ DNA, starting from the design philosophy that portrays Athletic Elegance in a progressive way. For the concept car, Genesis challenges the status quo of the standard vehicle. The Genesis X Speedium Coupe was created to ensure that the emotional value of driving does not fade during the era of electrification. The design stems from Genesis’ reductive design of “less is more.” The model is just the beginning of Genesis’ journey towards their future EV designs.
The Genesis X Speedium Coupe provides a view into the design process of Genesis as ideas are explored for the next movement of EVs. The vehicle stands out for the restrained elegance, clean clines and subtle curves. The exterior encompasses Genesis’s signature of the Two Lines lamps which have evolved into a full-width element that encapsulates the Genesis Crest Grille. It embodies Genesis’ transformation to an all-electric brand. The elliptical tail balances out the visually engaging look and tension between convex and concave surfaces. Genesis’ hallmark of the V-shaped brake lights crafted into the vehicle produce a striking contrast to the usual circular shape. Exterior features such as the integrated daytime running lamps and the hourglass silhouette emphasize the futuristic and electric elements of the vehicle.
The name “Speedium” was inspired by the Korean racetrack in the city of Inje, with the exterior design representing a passion for motorsports. The metallic shade of emerald green is referred to as “Inje Green” and motivated by the green color encompassing the mountainous landscape surrounding the racetrack in Inje. The design and color come together to embody speed, vitality, and timeless elegance.
As part of a chain of announcements revolving around vehicle electrification efforts, Genesis also revealed plans for the production of the Electrified GV70 SUV in the U.S. starting in December of this year and released details around the GV60 Priority One program, allowing U.S. consumers to enjoy a personalized experience in pre-ordering one of these limited availability EV vehicles.
